This poppy cross stitch pattern was recreated from a vintage embroidery piece preserved in the museum of my home village in northern Moldova.
The original design was stitched many decades ago by local women who created beautiful embroidery using the materials available to them. In those days, access to embroidery threads was limited, so makers often worked with a small selection of colors.
For this pattern, I carefully preserved the original floral design and composition, changing only the colors to create a more vibrant version for modern stitchers. My goal was to honor the character of the original embroidery while bringing fresh life to it through a richer palette.
